Regularly published in professional journals and trade magazines world wide, George Massenburg received the Gold Medal from the Audio Engineering Society in 2008. In 1982, he founded George Massenburg Labs, an audio electronics company that has released an extensive range of innovative recording technologies, all based on his original designs. In addition to numerous Mix Magazine TEC Awards, in 1988 he also won the Academy of Country Music Record of the Year Award for his production on the album “Trio” featuring Dolly Parton, Linda Ronstadt and Emmylou Harris.įurther, George has designed, built and managed several recording studios as well as contributed to the acoustical and architectural design of many other studios, including George Lucas’ Skywalker Sound. George’s work has gained him world wide recognition and four Grammy Awards, including the Grammy for Technical Achievement in 1998, at the time making him one of only seventeen individuals to ever receive this honor. His work includes milestone albums by Earth, Wind & Fire, Linda Ronstadt, Natasha Bedingfield, Herbie Hancock, Billy Joel, the Dixie Chicks and many, many more. If it helps even one person save time by not having have to screw around with software and getting on to making music, then I'm happy.Over the past four decades, George Massenburg has been involved in over 400 records. With AD, everything just works right off the bat, sounds great, and the lag is negligible. Also, there is noticeably less lag with AD than with SD- with SD I'd get a few ms lag that always made it unpleasant to play. Superior Drummer is better but you have to spend forever tweaking the mapping from their default Roland map in order to function and while the kits sound good I never got it working with my vdrums exactly as I hoped (mostly issues around the high hat, which I have thoroughly exhausted to no avail).Īnyway, Addictive Drums had a drum map for my TD-12 (and seemingly all of the other TD units), and sounds fantastic. EZ drummer is no good because you can't mess with the mapping. Battery has some cool kits but I wouldn't recommend for vdrums (maybe for a drum pad). I have the TD-12 and tried many vsts with a lot of headache and found that Addictive Drums is the best. Just wanted to give some thoughts for anyone searching for "best vst for vdrums."
